Vicky Ortega & Dr. Luis Sanchez

Abstract

My research is on mental health focusing specifically on young adults. There is a lot of important research in my topic mental health. However, they usually study their samples individually. For my project I will be focusing on a common group researched of young adults, but in my project, I will be comparing the same age groups and the differences between those who attend college, and those who choose different paths. I chose 18-25. I will be using secondary data That I will gather from the National Health Survey. There are four years that I will be gathering data from 2019, 2020, and 2021. An important variable that I am using for anxiety is how often I feel worried, nervous, or anxious and is coded as follows. WORFREQ. For depression an important variable I will be using is the level of depression, last time depressed which is coded DEPFEELEVEL. One of the research questions that I have is what are the effects of mental health on young adults 18-25 years old? What is the correlation of mental health on those who attend college? Also, I want to answer what are the effects of being a young adult not in college?
