Gender Differences Among Asian Origin Groups

Carla Ramos & Dr. Luis Sanchez

Abstract

My proposed study is about gender differences across a select group of Asians in the labor market. The title of my research is “Gender Differences Among Asian Origin Groups.” My main focus of my research is examining Filipino male and females in comparison to male and females Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, as well as South Asians (Indians). This is significant because as I reviewed previous research there was little to no mention about Filipinos in their data section or overall in their research when talking about Asians. The general method I am employing is using T-tests and Chi-Square tests in order to get the results of the selected Asian group in the labor market. I will be using the website IPUMS USA and select the years 1980, 1990, 2000, 2012, and 2019 which will show me the trends for each decade. My basic research question that I am trying to examine is seeing if there is a gender difference across the selected Asian groups in the labor market.
