Social Class and TRAP

Jonathan Elizarraraz & Dr. Lindsey O’Connor

Abstract

Traffic-Related Air Pollution (TRAP) is a social problem that we see is on the rise. Social Status has become an essential factor in today’s world. But how do the two relate? Social status is presented as a driving factor for many in today’s world. People live their lives pursuing an income that will give them status. Many obtain this income through education and obtaining knowledge that others might not have. Factors like education influence a person’s perception of many environmental problems such as TRAP. People’s perceptions show us how aware we are of the environment and where we are heading with our planet earth. I believe that Social status influences a person’s perception of TRAP and other similar types of pollution. I believe that the higher a person is on the social class scale, the more aware they are about the environment and how TRAP’s effects. My research is based on questions asked by the General Social Study 2021 (GSS) to many people in different social classes. I used the info and made an ANOVA test to analyze the data on SPSS.
