Gender/Race Differences and their Willingness to Pay to prevent Temperatures from Rising

Nicole Sifuentes & Dr. Lindsey O’Connor

Abstract

In this paper I will investigate the relationship between gender and race differences and their willingness to prevent temperatures from rising. My research will be focusing on both males and females of four races. The four races being, Whites, Hispanics, Asians and African Americans. I hypothesize that females in most of the races will likely pay more to prevent temperatures from rising. I conducted a secondary data analysis of the 2014 National Surveys on Energy and the Environment, [United States], that comes from the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research. I will be using their data to run a one way anova test to test my hypothesis. This research is significant to society because it covers the gap in the literature that already exists about both gender and race and their willingness to pay to prevent temperatures from rising, but it does not cover them gender within each race.
