Abstract<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In this presentation, we will introduce the world-renowned psychologist, Lev Semyonovich Vygotsky and proceed to explain his theory of The Zone of Proximal Development. We will then explain this theory in detail, describing its roots and how it has impacted the field of mathematical education over the last century. We will then explore various ways in which Vygotsky’s theory can be affectively implemented in the classroom. These methods will consist of an array of social and interactive exercises that promote teamwork and collaboration to achieve a common goal. In addition, we will analyze which curricular subjects profit the most and the least from this method. In conclusion, we will reflect on much children benefit from being involved in such collaborative environments. We will compare this method to other, more traditional teaching methods to draw conclusions as to which is the most affective style. We will end the presentation by fielding any questions from the audience.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
